ECBC

The building sector consumes one third of the total annual electrical energy consumption in the State and is one of the largest contributors to Green House Gas emissions. Having regard to the fact that, the rate of growth in commercial building sector is amongst the highest and needs to be moderated in its energy consumption

Buildings are major consumers of energy in their construction, operation and maintenance phase. Energy consuming systems for lighting, air-conditioning and water heating provide comfort to its occupants but consumes large quantum of energy. Taking the utilization of consumption into consideration, it is necessary to design a building conservation aspects focusing on energy

Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency is the fastest, cleanest and cheapest way to meet energy needs. India could save each year by greatly improving Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency in the buildings.

The Energy Conservation Act, 2001 empowers the Central Government to prescribe Energy Conservation Building Codes (ECBC) for efficient use of energy and its conservation in the building or building complex to reduce the adverse impact of buildings on the environment.
